Undergraduates

The BIL offers a wide range of programming from low-barrier-to-entry basic skills development (BIG-RT), the home to many hands-on CURE courses, to independent undergraduate research projects, to opportunities for entrepreneurship.

Faculty

BIL supports the development of CURE and other hands-on laboratory courses. Collaboration between BIL and faculty has sparked the development of eight novel CURE course, BIO2L, BioDesign (DES 128), and upper division BIM courses (BIM 143L, BIM 140L)

BIL has collaborated with local community colleges, companies, community groups, and high schools to develop a variety of workforce development programs supporting students from the greater Sacramento area.

Inside the BioInnovation Lab

The BioInnovation Lab is equipped to facilitate student projects in cell biology, biomaterials, biodesign, biotechnology, and bioengineering. The laboratory is equipped with molecular design stations, genetic and biochemical tools for engineering genetic systems, cell culture facilities and the capability for the quantitative characterization of molecular and cellular devices, biomaterials and electromechanical devices used for experimentation.
